We provide consistently high quality, commercially relevant legal advice worldwide, and build teams that are specific to our clients’ needs, combining specialist legal skills, industry experience and regional know-how. We have a track record of successfully managing large and complex multi-jurisdictional transactions, cases and projects. Our focus is on getting to the heart of your legal needs and delivering practical, commercial solutions.
Our UK tax team comprises 5 partners and approximately 10 associates who have specific and leading edge practices in all areas of tax law including corporate, energy, finance, private equity, cross-border planning, investment funds, real estate taxation and dispute resolution. We offer “hands-on” partner-led teams which provide a highly responsive and personalised service from highly experienced tax practitioners. Through our multi-disciplinary expertise, our advice is current, clear and practical.
From corporation taxes and value-added tax to transfer taxes, we have the knowledge and experience to deliver the tax solution our clients need to ensure their business operates efficiently and compliantly. We consider all commercial, legal, regulatory and tax aspects to ensure efficient planning and implementation, and are best placed to advise on the law, its purpose, scope and ambit and how clients can comply. The team regularly advises international investors on the tax treatment of investments in the UK and help these clients to invest in a tax efficient way. We also obtain advanced pricing agreements and advanced thin capitalisation agreements in conjunction with transfer pricing experts.
Businesses today have to operate against a background of ever more complex tax law and want to do the best for their business. Working as part of multi-disciplinary teams, we seek to understand our clients’ business and the wider tax implications of each transaction. This enables us to provide advice which suits our clients’ commercial objectives.
The tax team also includes experienced tax professionals with in-depth expertise in high-value tax disputes resolution and contentious tax. These disputes may cover direct or indirect tax issues. We assist inward investors with tax issues concerning permanent establishments and fixed establishments in the UK and also diverted profits tax issues. We aim to help clients resolve tax disputes before they reach court or tribunal processes but when such action is necessary, we advise clients at all the stages of court and tribunal proceedings, both before UK and EU authorities, including the European Court of Justice.
